GLOWING TO BED

“You look tired.” There’s the phrase I hate hearing during get-togethers. And no, it doesn’t help that it came from a well-meaning friend who is just concerned with the state of affairs in your life. In fact, I will hate you more if you don’t quickly change the conversation and compliment me on the nice shoes I’m wearing or the svelte figure I have under my tight fitting dress. I may not have gotten any sleep last night, and have been stress eating for the past few days by bingeing on junk food, but that doesn’t mean my skin should show it too!

That’s why highlighters are a go-to product for me now. I’m actually very low key when it comes to makeup and skincare and I definitely don’t count highlighters as a "basic" product. But ever since achieving a glowy complexion thanks to highlighters, I have come to rely on them all the time- good skin days and most especially bad skin days.

I use Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch when I want a lit from within glow. I use this when I don’t want to be obvious that I’m wearing makeup- when doing errands or just meeting a client or a friend for lunch. I love wearing a no-makeup makeup look and this highlighter is perfect in achieving just that. 

Friends would compliment me on how good I look without being able to pinpoint why. “Did you cut your hair?” “You finally perfected your eyebrows” “Did you just have a facial?” I would then look surprised and flustered, “what are you talking about? I didn’t do anything different!” Of course, now we all know why. 

The pen is so quick and easy to use, with just a few clicks you get enough product that you can swipe on in the middle of your forehead, apples of your cheeks, sides of your lips and your chin. If I put it on in the morning, the product will stay until dinner time so I don’t have to retouch for the day. A little goes a long way. This is already my third purchase and the previous ones lasted me an average of four to six months. I think that’s good value for its price!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector LiquidHighlighter are for occasions when I’m expected to wear makeup. Its gives a very subtle glow as if my skin just looks really dewy and healthy. It doesn’t last very long though so I feel like I have to re-apply every 3-5 hours. And I also have to be careful that I don’t put on too much or else I will look oily and greasy. I make sure to just apply it the in areas of my face that doesn’t get shiny which are my cheekbones and my chin. Sometimes I put a very very small amount at the top of my nose too. The 1 oz. bottle is a bit too much for me that after a few months of use I feel like there’s still so much product left. This current bottle will definitely last me for more than a year!

RMS Beauty Master Mixer is another favorite because it gives me that warm glow as if I had just been under the sun. I like it because it is so subtle and not shiny at all. It is the perfect highlighter during the day when I want just a little shimmer on my face. It gives me a natural glow without looking overdone. The downside is I have to re-apply it every hour or so. But I don’t mind at all because it smells good and my skin loves its natural ingredients!
